Hyden Farm is a small, family run farm in the South Downs National Park - fifth generation farmers in fact (we are nothing if not established locals!). Our passion is in producing the best lamb, pork, beef and poultry you can find. We are proud to say it is also award winning produce.

Keeping local breeds suited to the environment means they do well with little intervention – in short they are reared naturally. You will find Longhorn Cattle, Hampshire and Southdown Sheep, Oxford Sandy and Black & Saddleback pigs gracing our pastures. You can find out more on ‘Our Animals’ page.

We know we are privileged to live where we do and take our responsibility to care for the countryside seriously. We aim to farm in a way that protects our environment for today and tomorrow, which is why we farm the pastures sympathetically (and without chemicals or pesticides). Hyden Farm is also part of the higher level stewardship scheme (a scheme that monitors environmental best practice). Welfare is top of the agenda and we know well cared for animals are happy animals. From this we are rewarded with fantastic products, full of maturity and flavour – we hope you will agree!

News from Hyden Farm

Has spring sprung? I'm not sure, but the lambs have! Our first batch of lambing has been very busy and despite the cold snap and the new virus to hit our shores, all has gone well. Schmallenberg virus effects newborn lambs and calves but is not a human health issue, thankfully.

I am pleased to announce that we are just about to sample our first Dexter beef! Dexters are a small breed of cattle and have been my own personal interest. (Dad finally gave in to the pleading). I think, having worked with them over the last 3 years, we have quickly learnt that small in size does not mean easy to handle - spirited is a good description!

A few of our customers have ordered some beef and so I hope we will have reviews to add soon. Don’t worry though, Dexters are just for my fun, Longhorn is still our passion and will remain top dog (or cow!).
